Since 2019, Hotel Carlota has been part of the global B Corp movement. We are proud to be the first hotel in Ecuador to receive this certification and one of the few in Latin America to achieve this international recognition.

As part of our commitment to the Historic Center of Quito, we promote actions aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals, particularly Quality Education. We collaborate with community actors to create educational and cultural spaces that contribute to local social development and identity.
Through alliances with our stakeholders, we generate learning opportunities for new generations. We provide spaces where students can learn about architecture, tourism, environmental engineering, and business management within the hotel. Our facilities serve the academic community as a living learning space.
Continuous training is a fundamental pillar for generating a positive impact. Throughout the year, we conduct training sessions in sustainability, languages, customer service, and good manufacturing practices to enhance our team’s skills and professional development.
We promote collaboration with local suppliers and B Corps, supporting the community economy and sustainable practices. We incorporate recycled materials into our interventions—including floors, carpets, furniture, and structural elements—ensuring a positive environmental and social impact throughout our supply chain.
Hotel Carlota is the first hotel in Ecuador to obtain the LEED Gold (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) certification and the only heritage hotel in the world with this distinction, integrating sustainability with historical conservation.
LEED is a recognition granted by the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC) and is one of the most prestigious sustainable construction certifications worldwide. Our project obtained the LEED BD+C: Hospitality – New Construction certification with a score of 60 points, demonstrating that the renovation and retrofit of existing buildings are key strategies for sustainable urban development.

Collection and recycling of the seven types of waste established by LEED. We work with a local manager to implement effective emission reduction strategies.
Our organic waste is delivered to community members to
be used as animal feed, closing a sustainable local cycle.
