Following the standards and requirements of B Corp, at Hotel Carlota we firmly believe in the continuous training of our collaborators as a fundamental pillar for generating positive impact. For this reason, training sessions were held this year aimed at strengthening the understanding of sustainability and its practical application in the daily operations of the hotel.

A central part of the training was explaining what LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) certification is and how its various credits have been implemented at Hotel Carlota. Key topics were addressed, such as resource efficiency, indoor environmental quality, and especially waste management and recycling. Considering that we hold LEED Gold certification, it is essential to maintain a solid and permanent waste management plan. Collaborators were prepared to understand the importance of recycling and to apply correct waste separation in all areas of the hotel.

This capacity building also responds to the hotel’s future projection of moving towards the LEED for Operations and Maintenance (O+M) certification from the USGBC, ensuring that good practices are present not only in the building’s design but also in its everyday operation.

Additionally, the scope of the B Corp certification was explained during the training, addressing its principles, foundations, and requirements. It was emphasized that the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) are constantly integrated into both our operations and our governance, aligned with B Corp values. One of the key pillars is the continuous training of personnel, with the goal of strengthening their competencies and advancing in certification processes both institutionally and before organizations such as the Ministry of Tourism (MINTUR).

In the coming years, Hotel Carlota will continue to work constantly on the training, empowerment, and preparation of its team, consolidating an organizational culture focused on sustainability, positive impact, and continuous improvement.
