Carlota & “San Vicente de Paul” Orphanage
As part of our mission within Quito’s Historic Center, and as a recognized heritage house, we have launched an initiative aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG)—specifically SDG 4: Quality Education. Our goal is to foster real learning opportunities within our community.
We recently began a collaboration with the Hogar del Niño San Vicente de Paul orphanage, an institution dedicated to providing a safe, value-driven environment for children at risk. At Hotel Carlota, we strive to be a space where our neighbors can grow and thrive.
A Cultural & Educational Celebration On October 31st, during Ecuador’s Day of the Dead (Día de Difuntos), we invited the children for a traditional experience. This holiday connects Andean gastronomy with ancestral rituals through two key elements:
- Colada Morada: A spiced fruit drink symbolizing the blood of ancestors.
- Guaguas de Pan: Bread figures representing their bodies.
The children enjoyed a tasting prepared by our chef and participated in decorating the bread figures. Additionally, a local guide shared the history of Quito and the importance of mutual support within our historic district. The day concluded with a tour of the hotel, where they learned about our sustainable architecture and the history of our building.
We remain committed to strengthening these ties and promoting community development in the heart of Quito.
