Though Renato Solines studied law in Ecuador, he soon discovered that his passion and talents lay in entrepreneurship and business. Armed with a graduate degree in Business and Global Development, he and his wife, Carlota co-owner Veronica Reed, created an architecture and environmental design and research studio. Over some 15 years the pair then worked on various environmental design and community development projects, always setting extremely high environmental and social goals.
In 2008 the couple decided to preserve and fully renovate a family property owned by Renato’s grandmother Carlota. With great love and admiration for this wonderful and loving woman, the couple began working to restore the beautiful historical house that would become the Carlota Hotel.
